Steven's Cafe – Quiet, spacious, friendly, and a great spot to recharge or co-work.
Caffè Barbaro – A little slice of Italy in the heart of Rutherford. Authentic espresso, house-made pastries, and a European café atmosphere just steps from the train station. Perfect for lingering over a cappuccino or meeting a friend.

Erie Coffeeshop & Bakery – My favorite bakery in the world. Small-batch, seasonal pastries, custom cakes, heavenly sandwich specials of the day, savory treats, and top-tier coffee.
Steve & Andrea's – A Rutherford staple that's been serving breakfast for generations. Their crepe-style pancakes are an absolute must-try, and the warm, family-run atmosphere keeps locals coming back.
Rutherford Pancake House – Classic diner-style breakfasts done right. Pancakes, omelets, and all the comfort food favorites in a cozy, neighborhood setting.
Living Bread – What started as a beloved sourdough stand at the Rutherford Farmers Market has grown into one of the coolest spots in town. Tucked just off Erie Avenue, in a beautiful new location, they feature naturally fermented sourdough, incredible focaccia, and more. Go early—things sell out, and for good reason!
Varrelmann's Bake Shop – Cozy, charming old-school German bakery. Known for homemade breads, pastries, cakes, and traditional specialties, it's a Rutherford institution—and the apple strudel is legendary.

Butterfish Sushi – Curated by a Two Michelin Star Chef, this hidden gem offers an elevated culinary journey within its intimate twelve-table setting. This is seriously good, seriously fresh sushi!
Casanos Pizza Parlor — This vintage Italian restaurant has earned a cult following thanks to its social media-famous owner. Expect old-school charm, classic comfort food, and the viral pizza everyone's talking about.
Dumpling Dojo – Handcrafted dumplings are the star here, but don't stop there. From steamed buns to flavorful bowls and shareable small plates, it's a fun, casual spot that's perfect for lunch and takeout.
Fiorentini – Thoughtfully crafted seasonal cuisine in an intimate setting. Modern fine dining with beautiful presentation and one of Rutherford's best-kept culinary secrets.
Matisse 167 – Rutherford's destination for refined French-inspired dining. An intimate setting with charming outdoor garden oasis, impeccable service, and beautifully executed dishes make it a favorite for special occasions.
Paisano's – Family-owned and proudly serving Rutherford for years. Great pizza, classic Italian favorites, and homemade pasta with a beautiful outdoor patio. Don’t miss comedy nights!
Panebianco – A neighborhood favorite for elevated Italian fare, from flatbreads and fresh seafood to homemade pasta and craft cocktails.
Sòng e Napule – Authentic wood-fired Neapolitan pizza and Italian comfort food straight from the homeland. About as close to Naples as you'll get without boarding a plane.
Sonoma Bistro – Cozy yet elevated. Perfect for date night, brunch with friends, or a long lunch. You really can't go wrong here—and the espresso martini is one of the best in town.
Suprema – Modern Italian in a stylish setting that feels equally perfect for lunch, date night, or a celebration. Expect elevated takes on Italian classics, imported pastas, and creative specials.
Yellowtail – An unassuming, family-run sushi spot serving fresh fish and an extensive menu in a cozy setting. Bonus: it's BYOB, so bring your favorite sake!

Erie Bakery and Coffee Shop – Yes, it deserves a second shout. Eat anything they make!
Sweet Avenue Bake Shop – All-vegan, all-delicious cupcakes and cookies. Even if you're not vegan, go. The cupcakes are ridiculously good, the flavors are always fun, and it's one of Rutherford's sweetest little gems.
Ice Cream Charlies – A Rutherford summer tradition. Homemade ice cream, rotating seasonal flavors, oversized scoops, and ice cream cakes have made this neighborhood favorite the go-to spot for dessert after dinner for generations.
Roll Thai'd Creamery – Thai-style rolled ice cream made to order—fun to watch, even more fun to eat.
Dairy Queen – The OG spot for Blizzards and dipped cones. Fun fact: my first job as a kid was here!
Varelmann’s Bakery – Old-school German bakery known for its butter cookies, streudel, crumb cake, pastries, and holiday specials. A Rutherford institution.

Park Avenue – The heart of downtown Rutherford. Lined with locally owned boutiques, cafés, bakeries, restaurants, salons, and specialty shops, it's the kind of Main Street that makes the town so walkable and charming.
Lincoln Park – Rutherford's largest park, featuring sports fields, walking paths, playgrounds, picnic areas, and community events throughout the year.
Memorial Field – Home to Rutherford football, track, and countless community events. A true source of Bulldog pride.
Tryon Field – A quieter neighborhood park that's perfect for walking the dog, getting some fresh air, or taking a break from the day.
Rutherford Public Library – More than just books, the library is a true community hub with programs for all ages, study spaces, and local events. It also features the Ida Borroto Large Print Collection and the Ida Borroto Technology Room, dedicated in honor of my late mother, who devoted many years of service to the library and the Rutherford community.
Rutherford Woman's Club – More than just a historic landmark, the Woman's Club is an active part of Rutherford life, hosting private celebrations, community fundraisers, seasonal yard sales, and a beloved thrift shop while supporting scholarships and local charities. The beautiful entrance signage honors my late mother, Ida Borroto, who served as Club President and left a lasting legacy through her generous bequest.

Williams Center for the Arts – The cultural heartbeat of Rutherford. This restored historic venue brings the community together through live music, comedy shows, independent films, theater productions, children's programming, art exhibitions, and special events, making it one of the town's most vibrant destinations year-round.
Rutherford Farmers Market (Seasonal) – One of Rutherford’s favorite seasonal traditions, now in its 29th year. Stop by Lincoln Park on Wednesdays or Saturdays for farm-fresh produce and a rotating lineup of local bakers, coffee vendors, artisans, and specialty food makers.
Rutherford Day – Rutherford's annual community celebration featuring local businesses, food, family activities, live entertainment, and hometown pride. It has become the Borough's signature fall event, carrying on the tradition of bringing the community together.
Dining Under the Stars – One of my favorite Rutherford traditions. Park Avenue comes alive with outdoor dining, live music, and the kind of small-town charm that makes you want to stay all night.
